 :yeah:

Just as soon as Modern deer season is over and Modern elk season begins....  :bash: :bash:

Hunt the same area for elk you do for Blacktails?????  You will see monster bucks that you never even knew existed and you have been hunting that area for 5 years..   do not ask me how I know...  :bash: :bash: :bash: :bdid:
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

I'd have to agree with 1st week of Nov being peak. Some of the areas I hunt are going good by the 26th-27th while other areas haven't got a thing going yet.

If I remember right the rut is over by the late hunt. It's been probably 20 years since I needed to hunt it though.

Sea-level, Puget Sound region last year: rut seemed to be over by early November.  Peak activity was observed in the middle to end of October.  Granted, I observed a very small area - one block - and three bucks.  ;)

It all depends on the elevation.
We had a good rut early November on the kitsap peninsula at like see level last year, but a buddy told me up high in the mountains last year, the rut was done and over with by november 1 last year.
Stan Marsh: "My Uncle Jimbo says we gotta get up there early. Right Uncle Jimbo?"

Jimbo: "That's right, Stanley. Animals are much easier to shoot in the morning."

Rut kind of "seems to be over" about the first week of November every year b/c the peak breeding phase has hit and the bucks are locked down with hot does. Since a does home range is small the bucks no longer are covering large chunks of ground searching for hot does. The best time to hunt historically is the last week of October when the bucks are on the move constantly looking for hot does. It slows down the first week of November when the bucks are locked on hot does and then is hit or miss through late archery. I've found it is REALLY spotty once Thanksgiving hits but can be great if you are in the right area at the right time. Generally last 10 days of October getting better and better until the 31st.
